  1. NewsRog is the most powerful newsreader available for the Amiga
  2. platform.  NewsRog is commercial software.  To use this archive,
  3. you MUST use the supplied installer script.

  10. Here are just a few of NewsRog's features:

  12.  o Full support for inline 16 and 24 bit truecolor images on supporting
  13.    CyberGfx screen modes (e.g., from uuencoded data in article bodies).

  15.  o On and offline reading and post creation.
  16.  
  17.  o Asynchronous design.  You can start browsing articles even before
  18.    the headers are finished loading.  You can read articles in one
  19.    group while batch downloading another group for later offline
  20.    reading.  You can mark some articles for downloading in one group, and
  21.    while they're still transferring, browse around and add more to the
  22.    download queue.

  24.  o Multiple server support.  You can get some groups from a different
  25.    newsserver than other groups.  Define as many servers as you want.

  27.  o Article prefetching can load the next few articles while you
  28.    read the first, to avoid the network lag of fetching the following
  29.    articles.  This often can make articles avaiablle instantly.

  31.  o "Single key" group reading, thread-smart.

  33.  o Full clipboard support from articles and article lists, even in
  34.    different and proportional fonts.

  36.  o Full dynamic searching - search results are updated instantly
  37.    after each keystroke (like emacs I-search)!  You can search through
  38.    article bodies or any header field, by fixed string or regexp.

  40.  o Full control over article display.  Plug-ins are available to
  41.    control how articles are displayed.  Fonts and colors are supported.  A
  42.    few of the many features are: Smart colorization of quoted text,
  43.    trimming unnecessarily large blocks of quoted text (but still be able
  44.    to toggle the full text back on with a mouse click), hiding signature
  45.    blocks, colorization of header fields, trimming of large empty regions
  46.    in an article, clickable URL's (interfaces with most web browsers),
  47.    ROT13, inline display of binary images, and more.

  49.  o Newsgroup subsetting and user defined views.  Create a selection
  50.    filter to toggle between the "FS:" or the "WTB:" posts in a
  51.    marketplace group with a mouseclick.  Define any view you want for any
  52.    groups.

  54.  o Kill threads now, and in the future!  If you don't wish to read a
  55.    thread, you can kill all future posts to that thread automatically so
  56.    you don't have to re-kill the thread every time new articles are posted
  57.    to it.  Never see those annoying threads again.  Best of all, after the
  58.    thread becomes inactive for a use defined length of time, the kill file
  59.    entry for it will automatically expire after a period of disuse.

  61.  o Fully indented threading capability.  Among the fastest threading of
  62.    any major newsreader on any platform adjusted for CPU speed.

  64.  o Incredibly powerful article selection and kill capabilities.  Most
  65.    newsreaders limit you to performing pattern matches on header fields,
  66.    but not this one.  You can, for example, define a filter that matches
  67.    any article that is a *followup* to an article posted by particular
  68.    author, for example, so in effect you can define a view that is "any
  69.    articles posted by Joe Smith and any followups to those articles."

  87.    a 5000 line post by mistake?  Just cancel it and keep going.

  95.    Automatically retry connections if they fail.

  98.    on header fields.   Custom string functions are up to 15 times faster
